Microsoft has officially eliminated support for the Windows 7 operating system as of January 14, 2020. Microsoft has completely discontinued security updates, software updates and free technical support for the Windows 7 operating system. Furthermore, Microsoft has made it clear they want users to move to a newer Windows operating system such as Microsoft’s Windows 10.

Over time, Windows 7 will develop security flaws and cracks that cyber criminals are sure to exploit. In an effort to keep GRM Networks’ customers safe and secure, GRM Networks offers Tech Home products such as SecureIT, FileHopper and Password Genie. These products will continue to receive updates, but over time, the operating system itself will become vulnerable. Tech Home will continue to support Windows 7 through at least September 30, 2020. While Tech Home products may continue to work on Windows 7 for some time after that, it will no longer be tested or guaranteed.

Microsoft has suggested Windows 7 users consider purchasing a new computer or upgrading to Windows 10. Some older computers are unable to run Windows 10. As a result, it is recommended customers download and run the Windows Upgrade Assistant found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3159635/windows-10-update-assistant to check if the computer meets the system requirements for Windows 10. To view the system requirements go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-specifications. If it does meet requirements, then follow the steps in the tutorial to upgrade the computer.

Tech Home products are transferable to a new personal computer. GRM Networks Tech Support can help with reinstallation and set up if needed.
